Mosquito nets (€3 each)
Unfortunately malaria is a very common disease in Uganda. Malaria is transmitted by a mosquito bite. In Uganda, mosquitos mainly bite their victims at night and there are very few possibilities to protect oneself from it.
In most areas the people are too poor to afford mosquito nets, as they barely have enough money for food. When they also get bitten and infected with malaria, they don’t have enough money for the medicine.
For pregnant women, children, and HIV-infected persons the malaria infection is particularly dangerous, as their immune system is already weakened or not fully developed yet.
This is our target group. The doctors from our projects will distribute the mosquito nets to these people so that they can protect themselves from malaria.
